The BodyFat.Tips Desk is the research and editorial operation behind BodyFat.Tips, a publication of TAK Marketing, LLC, part of the Omnishun information systems. It is a desk, not a person: no headshot, no invented bio, no borrowed credentials. Every verdict here is produced by reading the primary research rather than the press release, rating how strong the evidence actually is on a fixed four-point scale, tracing where the claim came from, and correcting in public when we get something wrong. Nobody pays us to reach a conclusion. This is journalism, not medical advice — take personal health questions to a clinician. How we work, in detail: bodyfat.tips/how-we-read-a-study/

Do Testosterone Boosters Work? Not One Product Has Ever Been Tested

Ten review stars with nine hollow and one filled, beside the figure minus 91 percent

Researchers pulled the 37 ingredients out of the 32 best-selling testosterone and ED supplements and found 105 trials — but “no whole supplement products have published RCT evidence.” And 91% of the five-star libido reports vanished when the reviews were filtered.

Free vs Total Testosterone: A Normal Number Can Hide a Low One

Twelve testosterone molecules, nine clamped by carrier protein and three free, beside the figure 277

Of 3,334 men, 277 had a normal total testosterone and a low free testosterone — and they had the symptoms. Ninety-six had the reverse, and did not. Plus why the free number on your report was probably calculated with an equation its own field calls faulty.

Normal Testosterone Levels by Age: The 300 Cutoff Came From Older Men

A hundred dots with thirty filled, beside the figure 30 percent

In healthy men aged 19 to 39 the harmonised normal range is 264 to 916 ng/dL: the man at the top has three and a half times the man at the bottom. One reading under 300 is not a diagnosis; the guidelines ask for two early-morning tests and symptoms. And in 197,883 men, time of day moved the number more than decade of life did.

Apple Cider Vinegar Benefits: Real for Blood Sugar, About 2 lb for Weight. The Headline Trial Was Retracted.

The trial behind the 2024 headlines was retracted in September 2025, four days after a meta-analysis pooled it, and a year on that meta-analysis still carries no correction. What survives: a real but modest effect on blood sugar after meals, and about 2 lb of weight across twelve short trials, most of it back within a month of stopping in the one trial that checked.

Is Vegetable Oil Bad For You? The Hydrogenated Kind Was — And It’s Banned

Partially hydrogenated vegetable oil genuinely harmed people: when 11 New York counties restricted trans fat in eateries, hospital admissions for heart attacks and strokes fell an extra 6.2%. The FDA has since banned it. The fear outlived it and reattached to the oil that's left, which is usually soybean, as the ingredient list will tell you.

Do Eggs Raise Cholesterol? Yes, 5 to 8 mg/dL. The Fight Is Over Whether It Matters.

Eggs raise LDL by about 5 to 8 mg/dL in the pooled trials, so "eggs don't affect your cholesterol" is wrong. Whether that matters for the heart is disputed: in six US cohorts the egg's link with heart disease followed the cholesterol in its yolk, and the big pooled analyses disagree. And two meta-analyses disagree about the one thing the "it's a wash" argument needs.
