
Creatine Gummies: Nobody Has Published a Test of One. The Chemistry Says Water and Heat Are the Problem.
We are going to do something unusual on this page: tell you what we could not find out.
Seventy-four thousand people a month search for creatine gummies. Twenty videos on the subject have racked up over six and a half million views between them, several of them about a supposed scandal over what is actually inside.
So we went looking for the analysis. Somebody must have bought a jar, run it through a lab, and published what came out.
Nobody has. Four different searches of the medical and food-science literature, and there is no published measurement of the creatine content of a commercial gummy. Not a good one, not a bad one. None.
That is not the end of the page, though. Because while nobody has tested the product, the molecule itself has been studied carefully — and what it does under the conditions you need to make a gummy is well documented.
Creatine is stable, right up until it is wet
Creatine breaks down into a substance called creatinine. Researchers describe creatinine as having no biological activity. [1] It is not harmful; it is simply not creatine any more. Your kidneys clear it and nothing about your muscles notices.
How fast that happens depends almost entirely on water. A 2009 study measured the breakdown across a wide range of moisture levels at three temperatures, and found the relationship clean enough to plot as a straight line. Its conclusion about the powder in your tub is reassuring:
“creatine stability in the crystal form is very high as long as it does not reach the deliquescence state” [1] — deliquescence being the point at which a dry crystal pulls in enough moisture from the air to start dissolving itself.
So: dry crystal, very stable. Add water, and a clock starts.

A separate study dissolved creatine in water and left it. After 45 days at room temperature, 90% of it had degraded. Refrigeration only slowed it to 80%. [3]
And a 2025 analysis put creatine through thermal stress, ultraviolet light, various acidities and several drink mixers, and reported that temperature was the most significant factor affecting its stability. [4]
Now consider how you make a gummy
You need water. You need heat, to melt the gelatin or pectin. Then the product sits at room temperature in a jar for months.
Water, heat, and time are the three things creatine is documented to be least happy about.
The closest thing to a direct test comes from an unexpected place, and we want to be very clear about what it is. It is a study of dog food. [2]
Researchers added creatine monohydrate to dog food and put it through real manufacturing — retorting, which is moist heat processing, and extrusion. Then they measured what survived.
After retorting, 36% of the creatine was recovered. A different additive in the same experiment came through at 79 to 99%, so this was not a measurement problem. Then storage made it worse: after 15 months at room temperature, the extruded food had 63% less creatine and 39% more creatinine. Warmer storage was faster — six months at 40 degrees did more damage than fifteen months at 25.
The researchers’ own conclusion is the sentence that matters here. Creatine monohydrate, they write, is relatively unstable, particularly during storage, which “makes it difficult to establish a guaranteed Cr content in finished” products made this way. [2]

What this does and does not tell you
Being scrupulous, because this is where a page like this can go wrong.
It does not tell you creatine gummies are empty. We have no assay and neither does anyone else who has published. A manufacturer who understands this chemistry can formulate around it — lower water activity, gentler processing, overage at fill, protective coatings. Some may well have.
What it tells you is where the burden of proof sits. This is a molecule with documented instability in exactly the conditions the product requires. Under those circumstances, the label number is a claim about the day of manufacture. What matters is what is in the jar when you eat it, eight months later, and that is a measurement no seller has published.
Ask for a certificate of analysis on finished product at end of shelf life. If a brand has done the work, that document exists and they will be pleased to send it.
Meanwhile, the boring option is fully evidenced
Here is the thing that makes this whole category strange. Creatine is one of the best-evidenced supplements in existence — it survived a screen of 250 products where only two worked, and we rate it Established.
But that evidence was built on creatine monohydrate powder. That is what was in the trials. A gummy is a different delivery format that has never been tested against those outcomes, and the chemistry gives a specific reason to wonder whether it delivers the same molecule in the same amount.
You also do not need much. We looked at how much creatine you actually need and the answer is small, cheap, and you are already most of the way there from food.
The verdict
Unsupported — for the claim that a gummy delivers creatine the way the powder does. Not because it has been tested and failed. Because it has never been tested at all, and the chemistry of the molecule raises a specific, quantified, published concern about water, heat and storage.
An untested format for a well-tested compound is a strange thing to pay a premium for, especially when the tested version is one of the cheapest supplements on the shelf.
If somebody publishes an analysis of finished gummies at end of shelf life, we will update this page and say so. That study would take an afternoon and would settle it.
