BodyFat.Tips is published by TAK Marketing, LLC, part of the Omnishun information systems. This page explains what data the site collects, who it goes to, and what you can do about it. We’ve tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.

The short version

We don’t ask you to create an account, and we don’t sell your personal information. The site uses analytics to understand which articles people read, and it carries advertising, which involves third-party cookies. If you contact us, we keep what you send so we can reply.

What we collect

When you just read the site

Our web host records standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps — which are used for security and to keep the site running. The site sits behind Cloudflare, which sets a cookie to distinguish real visitors from automated traffic.

We use analytics to see which articles are read and how people arrive at them — currently Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager) and Clicky. These tell us things like page views, referring sites, and rough geographic region. We use them to decide what to write next, not to identify you personally.

When you contact us

Our contact form collects your name, email address, and message, so we can reply. Submissions are processed by Contact Form 7 and delivered to us by email. We keep messages for as long as they’re useful for correspondence and record-keeping, and we don’t add you to any mailing list from a contact form.

Comments and avatars

Where comments are enabled, we collect what you type into the comment form plus your IP address and browser user-agent, which helps with spam detection. Comment avatars may be served by Gravatar, which receives a hashed version of your email address; their privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy.

Advertising and affiliate links

This site is a business and intends to make money. Here is exactly how, and what that means for your data.

Display advertising

We show display advertising served by third-party ad networks. Where Google AdSense or Google’s advertising partners are used, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet.

• You can opt out of a broader set of third-party vendors at aboutads.info/choices or optout.networkadvertising.org.

Advertising is always visually distinct from our writing, and it never appears inside a verdict’s evidence panel.

Affiliate links

Some pages — specifically buying guides, never verdicts — may contain affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate programmes typically set a cookie so the retailer can attribute the sale; that cookie is set by the retailer, not by us, and is governed by their privacy policy.

Any page containing affiliate links says so, plainly, at the top. As set out in our Editorial Policy: nobody pays us to reach a conclusion, and verdict pages carry no affiliate or product links at all.

Email and newsletters

If we offer a newsletter and you subscribe, we’ll store the email address you give us for the purpose of sending it, and you can unsubscribe from any issue. We won’t sell or rent that list.

Cookies you may encounter

• Essential — security and bot-detection (Cloudflare), and, if you comment or log in, cookies that remember your details or session.
• Analytics — Google Analytics and Clicky, to measure which articles are read.
• Advertising — set by ad networks and their partners to serve and measure ads.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site; blocking analytics and advertising cookies will not.

Who we share data with

We don’t sell your personal information. Data is handled by the service providers described above — our web host, Cloudflare, Google (Tag Manager, Analytics, and advertising), Clicky, our email provider, and any affiliate networks whose links you choose to click. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to object to certain processing. If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal information is collected and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” — note that some ad-network cookie usage can count as “sharing” under the CCPA/CPRA, and the opt-out links above are the practical way to exercise that.

To make a request, contact us and we’ll respond as quickly as we reasonably can.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, tell us and we’ll delete it.

How our content is made

Our research and drafting process uses modern research tools, including AI-assisted drafting, with human review and editing before anything publishes. That process doesn’t involve your personal data. The full description is on our Editorial Policy and How We Read a Study pages.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page when what we do changes — for example if we add a new ad network or analytics provider — and we’ll change the date at the top when we do.
