Maine Passes GMO Labeling Law

Weight Loss Tip: You will be more successful with weight loss if you find a type of exercise that you enjoy. You are more likely to exercise if you are having fun. You can participate in a favorite sport, or become interested in a new one. If you have physical issues that keep you from performing some sports then try a walking program. It is simple and cheap to do.

Last week, Connecticut became the first state to require the labeling of GMO foods for consumers, but now they are not alone. The state of Maine has now joined in the fight for mandatory GMO labeling and will require food producers to identify genetically modified food. Jim Gerritsen, co-owner of Wood Prairie Farm, gives us his take on the legislation.

  1. Enriched rice is genetically altered, and has been of great benefit to people.

  2. Monsanto is in the jewsih Zionist mafia, just like half of government, they pretty much own America now.

  3. Personally I think a few drones need to be hacked and for once be used to benefit mankind. Knowutimean? I see no other solution, but maybe that’s just me.

  4. I have no love for Monsanto, but sadly I think 90% or more of what people hate about them is based on lies, misinformation, hysteria/paranoia and junk science.
I know a bit about biotechnology, and I’m very unimpressed by the fact that a lot of people attacking GMO seem to believe that adding a gene from one plant or animal species into another, makes people sick for no other reason than it being from another species… riiiiiiiight.

  5. Some point to junk science, and some just come out and say “it’s unnatural”… so is the internet, what’s your point?!

  6. That is horrible!
This is definitely going to be a long battle but just try to keep your spirits high and remember how the BIG tobacco companies did the same thing.

  7. it’s actually more costly to poison our food then treat us with medicine or die of cancer.
It’s less costly to make the weeds weaker so that we use less pesticide for the same purpose.
We need only flush out one species of weed without the booby-trap genes by using the ones we MAKE to out-complete it for land use.
Then they’ll all die when we spray something that’s relatively non-toxic for us. This saves time including healthcare & food preparation.

  8. today’s modified crops are highly toxic. Genetically modified corn is a reject. 0% of it is edible to me. None.
anything with Bt genetically infused in it: toxic. Inedible. Rejected. Anything with excessive roundup poison on it: inedible. The #1 promoted genes are resistance to excessive round-up spraying. The weeds evolved to RESIST on their own yet our crops did not. That’s a problem. We’re actually using MORE time & money, saving nothing, endangering everyone.

  9. I don’t understand what a GMO label is going to tell you, other than the fact it’s a scare tactic. Is it going to be labeled like, “this product contains GM corn, which was modified to be resistant to roundup. This increases yield and decreases the use of more dangerous pesticides”; or is it going to say nothing so that the anti-GMO propaganda can fill in the blanks for you?
